About the program
Building Engineering at Politecnico di Torino aims to direct the realization of new building works and the recovery of existing constructions, in traditional and industrialized building sites, also coordinating other specialists.
Key facts
- Construction engineers develop projects at different levels, from preliminary to final stages and maintenance; they direct the realization of building projects in traditional and industrialized construction sites, both for new buildings and recovery of existing structures; they are engaged in the management and organisation of estate transactions, the management and organisation of the building process with regard to materials, products and components, as well as surveying and appraising building assets.
- Construction engineers are aware of the complexity of building projects at both subsystem and environmental level, and have the necessary skills to assume full and autonomous responsibility for their realization, ethically and according to sustainability.
Courses include:
- During the first year students are trained in the methods of integral design, which involves coordinating various aspects of function, distribution, space, composition, structure, energy, plant, execution, and finance, always with a view to the whole system and to principles of eco-sustainability.
- Students explore issues related to urban surveying and urban planning, modeling and calculation of foundation and elevation structures of buildings, applied physics, technical and technological equipment for buildings, and the organisation and management of construction processes and construction sites.
